Plutonium - Born Again Misanthrope (2016)

The new album of the Swedish project Plutonium just like the previous one has been released in a DIY-manner in accordance with the initial style concept. But enough about the concept, let's talk about the music. The whole material has been recorded by the only member of the project Jay Karlsson, that's another plus to its 'true' status - not letting strangers to spoil the unholy idea. The material includes nine diverse… Read more...

Lauxnos – My Dead Ocean (2014)

Since modern technologies allow recording an album even 'in one's bedroom', no surprise the world underground has lately been engulfed by so-called 'one-man projects', where everything - absolutely or practically - is done by one man/musician/ideologist. It's both good and bad because the final product perfectly fits the initial concept while what concerns the negative side, in order to make smth. really adequate and worthy one should posess talent and proficiency in… Read more...

Monastery Dead - Black Gold Appetite (2015)

The common problem of many oldschool death metal bands is not that they can’t offer anything really fresh to the listener. They just try too hard to fit the style, turning their albums into a compilation of musical templates. You listen to it, you’re impressed by the quality and skills, but the work leaves you emotionless. Something like ‘to hear and to forget’. Many made these mistakes, now it’s Russian band Monastery… Read more...

Review of releases in January 2016

We bring to your attention the project supposed to become the monthly one, where any remarkable release of foreign and local metal (or related to it) scene released during the latest month will be presented. Don’t interpret it as top list of the best albums, since one can get lost in the abundance of releases. It’s most likely to be the editorial team’s opinion about things that turned up by chance and… Read more...

Nahum - And The Chaos Has Begun (2015)

Pleasant  surprise overcame practically instantly when I heard these marvelous sounds. What’s that??? Revived spirit of classical death metal of the early 90th??? Yes, it’s getting clear that this material is the heritage of the golden epoch of death metal. Though, with some detailed investigation one can find thrash echoes on the release, which is rather good. Such kind of touch greatly fits to the sound integrity and doesn’t make a muddle… Read more...

Manipulation - Ecstasy (2015)

Polish death metal school has its own specific and recognizable hand. So while listening to a new group from these places one as a rule waits for smth. like Hate, Vader, Decapitated or Lost Soul. But there is no such thing with Manipulation. First of all it's because of a smoothed-over and modern sound typicall for Canadians or Americans. Secondly there are a lot of elements of death core with juicy breaks… Read more...

Review: Aillion – Vojna Mirov (the War of Worlds) (2015)

Heavy metal in Belarus is a rare animal. It kind of exists but not much is heard about it. At least our scene isn’t that rich in such bands and well-known people like in the neighbouring Russia. The loudest and brightest band in its time was Staya, which has been sometimes called ‘Aria for the poor’. The band split after recording quite good album for the genre, giving birth to the new… Read more...

Review: Veld - Daemonic: The Art Of Dantalian (2015)

‘Wow!’ – was the first that came to my mind when I heard these marvelous sounds in acoustic systems. A pleasant surprise with slight shivers can be called the sign of a high quality with the mark ‘worth listening’. This material significantly differs from the previous one. I should admit that it differs in a good way. The album is incredibly ‘juicy’, filled with blasphemous contents both in lyrics and in musical… Read more...

Review: Vein of Hate - Dualist (2015)

From the first seconds of the title song Reaching To The God I involuntary became alerted by the thought that the sound of the album would be strongly connected with the industrial. The good news was that my suggestions had no ground since such keyboards tricks were used in separate and appropriate moments. That created the sound I’m going to describe in this review. The material, to my mind, is of a… Read more...

Ivorygod - Killing Once Killing Twice (2015)

'Killing Once Killing Twice' – is the second full format album of Gomel thrash-metalists IVORYGOD. Before it the band released the debut album 'Alienation' and EP 'Bend the knees'. The work presented to the listeners three songs from the EP, single 'The Misrepresentor' and 7 absolutely new tracks. One of them has been recorded with the vocalist of Meat Head. One can honestly say that the album is much more better that… Read more...
